'Betrayal (Love Is Misery)' by Jesse Futerman has been a secret weapon in the bag of a few luckies, got so many requests after Gilles Peterson played on the show a couple of months ago…
Jesse Futerman is a young, gifted, sonical-jazzical artist who lives in Toronto, Canada.Influenced by DJ Shadow's use of samples and loops, from a broad range of genres, Jesse soon found himself digging for records in local shops while scouring the internet for more samples. These were gradually assembled into compositions that attracted the interest of numerous tastemakers. Six years later, Jesse's production style has gradually evolved to encompass not only the laid back intensity of jazz and hip-hop, but the uptempo energy that permeates disco, boogie and house. He has quietly carved a sound that excites soulful heads and eletronic deep housers alike. 'Betrayal (Love is Misery)' is an exquisite instrumental stuffed with textured strings, horns and an indefinable but unmistakable presence, and some of you may recognize the spoken vocal at the start and at the end…Rebirth chief Shield edited and extended the original version for more dance floor action.
On the flip 'Detail' by born and raised in the south of the Uk Menik Aka Tom Smith ! Already a fave producer from the likes of Disclosure, Dusky and Mary Anne Hobbs, he strives to bring something new, always creating something different with his distinctive sound. 'Detail' has a magical vibe: warm chords, atmospheric pads, a flamenco guitar and driving drums with signature analogue sounds and pop arpeggios.
